Are You In The Cloud? June 6, 2011

Today, Steve Jobs is announcing the launch of Apple's newest product, the iCloud. While it is unclear exactly what this product is going to do, it seems like everyone is working in "the cloud" these days for some part of their computer useage.
As I mentioned in a previous blog last November, I am a huge fan of Carbonite, which saves your computer files in offsite storage (the cloud) in case something happens to your computer - which is exactly what happened to me last fall! I dropped my laptop on the floor and destroyed my hard drive. After purchasing a new hard drive, I was able to use my Carbonite service to restore all of my files, which was a huge relief!
Another useful cloud product is Dropbox, which allows you to save your files in the cloud so that you can share them or retrieve them on any computer or smart phone. This is especially useful when you need to share files that are too large to send via e-mail. I used Dropbox when I was working on my kitchen audio recording. It allowed me to get some technical help from a friend without ever leaving my office.
What "cloud" software are you using?
