What Do You Think About the New "My Plate"?
June 3, 2011
by Jodi Granok - Organizing Magic, LLC

This week, the Agricultural Department replaced the "Food Pyramid" we have used for years, and replaced it with something called, "My Plate".
Old Food Pyramid
New My Plate
Personally, I find this new system a lot easier to understand and follow.  Instead of having to remember what constitutes as a "serving", all we need to do now is use our meal plate and strive for half of the plate to be filled with fruits and veggies, a quarter with protein, and a quarter with grains, plus some type of dairy.

I don't easily gravitate towards eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, but I think this visual will stick with me a lot more than trying to remember how many servings I need.

How about you?  What do you think of the new dietary guidelines?
