Need Motivation to Clean Your House? Host a Party! October 12, 2009 by Jodi Granok - Organizing Magic, LLCOctober
has been an exciting month for me already. In the span of less than 2
weeks, my husband and I have entertained guests on 3 separate occasions,
which is unheard of for us!
It's funny how things tend to cluster. It started with me agreeing to host one of the bi-monthly socials for the St. Louis Chapter of NAPO
(National Association of Professional Organizers). The week before
that day arrived, my husband and I had a couple of friends over for
dinner. Two days after the social, my husband had his school
principal's family over for dessert.
Normally I shy away from
company, because my husband and I live in a very small home. Of course,
hosting also means cleaning the house - and we aren't always great at
that.
People are surprised when I say that I am not the greatest
housekeeper, but being organized and having a clean home are NOT the
same thing! My house is usually very organized and tidy, but it is also
often dusty and full of cat hair!
That being said, I welcomed
the chance to have people over, because it gave me the excuse to buckle
down and do some deep cleaning - with my husband's help, of course!
The
best part of hosting these events was hearing all the nice things
people said about our home being warm and cozy. My husband and I had a
great time entertaining our friends together. I think I am going to be a
willing hostess from now on!
