Do Organizers Ever Need to Organize Themselves? July 26, 2009 by Jodi Granok - Organizing Magic, LLC
The answer, for me, is "YES!"
Today,
my husband and I got up early, went out to breakfast, and then each of
us went to our respective closets and did some weeding.
I like to
think that my closet is pretty streamlined for the most part - and I
was right. I am wearing most of the items in my closet regularly, which
goes against the trend. The famous clothing statistic is that as a
society, we wear 20% of our clothes, 80% of the time.
Apparently
my weakness was in the hidden, and not the visible. My clothes are
hanging out on racks in a walk-in closet, but I have several dresser
drawers that were filled with clothes, some going back to my high school
days. Given the fact that I am attending my 20th high school reunion in
2 weeks - it was time for this stuff to go!

So
while my husband worked on weeding down his guilty pleasure (t-shirts),
I faced my weakness (socks). I never wear socks unless there is snow
outside, which is rare in St. Louis - yet I had about 50 pairs of socks!
I
ended up filling a large laundry basket with shirts, sweaters, pants,
even a dress or two. Plus lots of socks. Lots and lots of socks. My
husband did a great job as well. He even found some old electronic items
in his closet to donate!
Just to clarify - we are NOT donating our cat, Sugar - she just likes to be where all the action is!
